The Dundee Stars carried a 4-2 aggregate lead into this game, so the Devils were looking for an early goal, which is exactly what they got.  With Connor Sills in the penalty box for holding, Matt Register found Brodie Reid who fired the puck past Adam Morrison to give the Devils a 1-0 lead at 8:13.

Just 21 seconds later, Brendan Mikkelson carried the puck deep into the Dundee zone, fed Marc McNulty who slid the puck across the blueline to Cole Sanford who buried it top shelf past Morrison for a 2-0 lead.

But the Devils weren’t done yet. Less than 30 seconds after the goal, Dundee found themselves on the penalty kill again and this time Jake Coughler finished off one of the nicest set ups from Sanford and Trevor Cox to put the Devils up 3-0 at 9:59.

Just under 2 minutes later, they extended their lead when Coughler picked off a Dundee pass and found Josh Waller who skated the length of the ice and scored between the legs of Morrison to give the Devils a commanding 4-0 lead with 11:45 played in the first period.

The Devils carried that lead into the first intermission, giving them a 2 goal advantage on the aggregate score line after 20 minutes played.

The lone goal of the middle period came on a Devils powerplay, but it was the Stars who scored shorthanded at 34:30 when Philippe Sanche picked off a pass and went the full length of the ice to beat Mac Carruth and pull the Stars a goal back.

With 56 seconds left in the middle period, the Devils were back with a 4 goal lead courtesy of a beautiful solo effort by Matt Register who dangled through the Dundee defence to beat Morrison and put the Devils up 5-1.

The Stars came out flying in the third period, but the Devils put this game to bed with their third powerplay goal of the game, with Stephen Dixon finishing off a pass from Reid at 42:44 to give the Devils a 6-1 lead.

For the rest of the period, Carruth smothered everything the Stars threw at him, finishing with 31 save and the Devils cruised to a 6-1 win and an 8-5 aggregate score line.  They now advance to the semi-final of the Challenge Cup, which is a one-off game in Sheffield against the Steelers.
