Continental Cup Group confirmed for Devils

The Continental Cup Group E is confirmed for November.

The Devils will travel to Slovakia to face off against the host team Vlci Zilina, HC Arlan from Kazakhstan, and the winner of the previous round Rittner Baum from Italy. 

The 4-team tournament takes place from the 15th to 17th of November. 

c-cup-logos.jpgThe host team Vlci Zilina won the Slovakian League 1 championship last season to move up to the Slovak Extraliga this season.  They currently sit in 8th place out of 12 teams.  Former Devils Head Coach Jarrod Skalde coached the team for a season after departing the Devils. Their current head coach is former NHLer Milan Bartovic.

HC Arlan are in first place in the top league in Kazakhstan and are coached by Vladimir Markelov who is in his first season as head coach.  They previously won the IIHF Continental Cup in 2019, beating the Belfast Giants with a shootout win in the final game. 

Rittner Baum qualified for this round of the competition by winning the second round to advance to Group E.  The Italian side currently sit in third place in the Alps League after winning the championship last season.  They are coached by Canadian Jamie Russell who had a long coaching career in the NCAA University ranks, including 8 years as head coach of Michigan Tech.
