The Cardiff Devils announced three players last night to complete their roster ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Marcus Crawford and Chad Pietroniro return from last season’s team and Evan Mosey is back after two seasons playing for the Sheffield Steelers.
Crawford led all defenceman in league scoring last season, finishing with 9 goals and 48 assists for 57 points in 54 games. He was the only defenceman to finish in the top ten in league scoring. Crawford was selected onto the EIHL First All-Star Team and won EIHL Defenceman of the Year last season.
Pietroniro joined the Devils at the signing deadline in February, icing in the final 12 games of the season. He played both forward and defence and was often switching back and forth mid-game between the two positions. His versatility and his no-nonsense style of play made him an instant fan favourite upon his arrival.
Mosey played for the Devils for two seasons between 2018 and 2020. He was part of the 2019 Playoff Championship team but missed most of the following season in 2019-20 with injury, although he returned to play 8 games (scoring 3 goals and 4 assists) before the season was cut short due to Covid-19. He moved to Sheffield to ice for the Steelers in 2021-22 and 2022-23 but was targeted by his new Head Coach Pete Russell to make a return to Cardiff. Mosey is another versatile player that can play forward and defence. He recently won the gold medal with team GB at the World Championships Division 1A.
The three players complete the full-time roster just three weeks before the pre-season gets under way.
